Phosphate Scandal: Rs. 2,700 Mn Loss Under Probe

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has initiated an investigation into an alleged Rs. 2,700 million loss incurred by the government due to the sale of 3,000 metric tons of rock phosphate by Lanka Phosphate Company to three companies during the previous administration.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint received by the division. Officials from the division reported the details of the case to the Colombo Magistrate's Court.

According to the complaint, the sale of rock phosphate resulted in a significant financial loss to the government. The police have obtained the necessary court orders to proceed with the investigation.
