Body Found In Bag In 2025, Killer Sentenced to Death

COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige sentenced an individual named Patrick Krishnaraja to death for the murder of Dharmaraja Karthika in 2015. 

The gruesome incident involved the victim being killed at a lodging house on Sea Street, Colombo, and her body being placed in a travel bag and abandoned at the Bastian Mawatha Bus Stand.

The Attorney General filed charges against Krishnaraja, who was accused of murdering Karthika on July 29, 2015. Following a lengthy trial, Judge Patabendige found Krishnaraja guilty of the charges.

During the trial, Krishnaraja maintained his innocence, claiming he was not responsible for the crime. However, the prosecution presented compelling evidence that proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

In delivering the verdict, Judge Patabendige stated that the evidence against Krishnaraja was overwhelming and justified the death penalty.
