Devotees Advised to Skip Kandy Visit on April 23rd

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police reports a significant increase in the number of devotees visiting Kandy for the Sacred Veneration of the Relic of Lord Buddha.

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, more than 80,000 devotees visited Kandy, and the number is expected to exceed 100,000 by Wednesday (23) morning.

The influx of devotees is anticipated to continue rising throughout the day.

In light of this, Sri Lanka Police is urging devotees to consider visiting Kandy on another day, from among the remaining four days until April 27, to avoid inconvenience.  Police is requesting the devotees who plan to visit Kandy, not visit on Wednesday (23).
