Chamara Sampath Back To Remand

COLOMBO (News 1st); Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dasanayake was remanded until May 5th following his appearance before the Badulla Magistrate's Court this morning (21).

Dasanayake, who was already in remand custody, was presented in court in connection with allegations of misappropriating funds during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Uva Province. 

The charges against him involve the collection of one million rupees using the Provincial Council's letterhead for preschools, which he allegedly deposited into his personal account via a cheque.
