Road Accidents Claim 713 Lives So Far In 2025

COLOMBO (News 1st); So far this year, 713 individuals have lost their lives due to road accidents, according to police reports. These fatalities resulted from 685 severe accidents.

Compared to last year, there has been a decrease of 31 fatal accidents. Last year, 744 people died from 713 accidents.

During the festive season alone, 105 people died from 103 fatal accidents. 

Police also reported a total of 934 accidents during this period, marking a reduction of 23 accidents compared to the same period last year, when 128 people died from 126 accidents.
