IGP Deshabandu Further Remanded Until April 10th

COLOMBO (News 1st): Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has been remanded until the 10th of this month.

This decision was made during the hearing of the related case before Matara Magistrate Aruna Buddhadasa today (3).

On February 28th, the Matara Magistrate's Court issued warrants for the arrest of Deshabandu Tennakoon and seven others.

These warrants are in connection with the shooting incident near a hotel in Weligama, Matara, on December 31, 2023, which resulted in the death of an officer from the Colombo Crime Division.

After evading capture for 20 days, Deshabandu Tennakoon surrendered to the court on March 19th, by a motion.
