High Court Verdict Challenged by Ex-Chief Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Chief Minister of the North Central Province, S.M. Ranjith, and his sister-in-law, Shanthie Chandrasena, have filed an appeal.

This appeal is in response to the verdict given by the Colombo High Court.

The appeal challenges both the verdict and the sentencing order issued by the High Court.

In his appeal, S.M. Ranjith argues that he was sentenced without sufficient evidence.

Yesterday, the Colombo High Court sentenced S.M. Ranjith and Shanthie Chandrasena, to 16 years of rigorous imprisonment.
