Suspect Remanded for Assaulting Police Officers

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect has been remanded in connection with an incident in Nilaveli where two police officers were obstructed and assaulted while performing their duties. 

Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Manatunga reported that the incident occurred yesterday when the officers were enforcing traffic laws.

A group of approximately ten individuals from the area interfered with the officers' duties and assaulted them. 

The main suspect has been arrested and remanded, while the other suspects have fled the area.

The police have stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and present them before the court.
