Suspect in Anuradhapura Hospital Sexual Assault Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, announced that the arrest of the suspect involved in the sexual assault of a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Hospital.

The case, which has generated significant public and parliamentary attention, saw swift action from law enforcement.

In a statement to parliament, Minister Wijepala confirmed that five police teams were deployed to apprehend the suspect.

"The unfortunate incident at Anuradhapura Hospital has sparked widespread public discourse and raised questions in parliament. I previously informed the house that five police teams were deployed to apprehend the suspect. Today, I am pleased to report that the suspect was arrested in Galnewa. As promised, he has been apprehended and will be brought to justice through legal proceedings," he stated.
