COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Education has issued a set of guidelines on how students should act during the current heatwave.

The guidelines state that students should avoid staying on outdoor playgrounds on hot days.

It is advised that students avoid playing in sunny areas during school breaks.

The Ministry of Education also advises against taking students outside during the midday hours unless absolutely necessary.

Considering the regional temperatures, it is suitable to plan indoor sports competitions and training sessions.

The Ministry of Education also advises ensuring that students drink enough clean water.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology expects a change in the current dry weather conditions starting from the 23rd.

Accordingly, rain is expected in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District.
