Outgoing Air Force Commander Elevated to Air Chief Marshal

COLOMBO (News 1st); Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa was promoted to the esteemed rank of Air Chief Marshal, honoring his exemplary leadership and service to the Sri Lanka Air Force and Nation.

The announcement was made by the Sri Lanka Air Force on its official facebook page.

Udeni Rajapaksa is set to retire on Wednesday (29).

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Air Vice Marshal Vasu Bandu Edirisinghe as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. 

The appointment letter was handed over to him on Monday (27) by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.

Air Vice Marshal Edirisinghe will become the 20th Commander in the history of the Sri Lanka Air Force, with his appointment taking effect from January 29. 

This coincides with the retirement of the current Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, on the same date.
