COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Wang Xiaohui.
According to the President's Media Division, the meeting aimed to strengthen ties between Sri Lanka and Sichuan, a province known for its economic contributions to China.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, economic development, tourism, culture, and government relations.
President Dissanayake encouraged Sichuan officials to share their expertise, particularly in the energy sector, to support Sri Lanka's growth.
He also emphasized Sri Lanka's stable economy and its transparent, investor-friendly environment.
The President highlighted that the current government, supported by people from all regions, is committed to fulfilling the nation's development goals.
President Dissanayake invited the people of Sichuan to visit Sri Lanka, calling it an ideal destination for Chinese tourists.
The President is currently on a four-day official visit to China. His delegation includes Ministers Vijitha Herath and Bimal Rathnayake.
