Colombo High Court Sentences 26-Year-Old to Life Imprisonment for Smuggling Heroin into Prison

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Colombo High Court today sentenced a 26-year-old man to life imprisonment after he was convicted of concealing and smuggling over 25 grams of heroin into prison.

The suspect was arrested on December 4, 2019, by the prison intelligence, after hiding the heroin in a false bottom of a container used to carry food to an inmate in the Colombo remand prison.

Following the arrest, the Attorney General filed charges against the defendant for possession and trafficking of heroin.
