COLOMBO (News 1st); Four flights scheduled to land at Katunayake Airport early this morning were diverted to several other airports due to heavy fog in the area, which impaired the pilots' visibility of the runway.
A SriLankan Airlines flight from Dubai, initially set to land at Katunayake Airport, was redirected to Mattala Airport.
Similarly, another SriLankan Airlines flight from Guangzhou, China, was also diverted to Mattala Airport.
SriLankan Airlines spokesperson, Deepal Perera, stated that a flight from Bangalore, India, was redirected to Mattala Airport as well.
Additionally, a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul, Turkey, destined for Katunayake Airport, was diverted to Trivandrum Airport in India, according to our correspondent.
