COLOMBO (News 1st) - The leadership of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has been a topic of debate, with some calling for a shift in leadership.

Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, Mano Ganesan recently weighed in on this issue, agreeing with former MP Lalith Ellawalla's claim that there is a lack of democracy within the party.

Ellawalla suggested that the SJB should consider leadership figures like Harsha de Silva to secure its future.

Ganesan acknowledged concerns over Sajith Premadasa's leadership but stressed that it was unclear whether Sajith Premadasa, Harsha de Silva, or another figure should take charge.

He called for Premadasa to improve his leadership skills and work more cooperatively within the party, citing a lack of collaboration and unilateral decision-making regarding ongoing issues.

Ganesan also called for reform within the SJB, but he believed that these changes did not necessarily require Premadasa to step down.

Instead, he emphasized the need for more inclusive leadership, involving senior members like Harsha de Silva and Kabir Hashim.

Ganesan stated that he would have competed for the leadership if he were a member of the SJB, but clarified that, as a leader of an allied party, he was more concerned with the party's direction.

He noted that the Tamil Progressive Alliance, as a key ally, would not blindly accept any leadership decision and would continue to evaluate the situation.
