U.S. Ambassador Discusses Rule of Law and Women’s Empowerment with New Chief Justice

COLOMBO (News 1st); U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung met with the newly appointed Chief Justice Murdu Fernando P.C. on Tuesday (17).

During their meeting, the duo engaged in a discussion focusing on shared values between the U.S. and Sri Lanka, including the rule of law, transparency, and inclusive governance. 

Ambassador Chung also highlighted the importance of empowering future generations of women leaders.

Ambassador Chung also congratulated the Murdu Fernando P.C. on her appointment as the new Chief Justice of Sri Lanka's Supreme Court, the second woman ever to hold that post.
