Colombo High Court Sentences Four Defendants to One Year Rigorous Imprisonment for 2019 Killing

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colombo High Court today sentenced four defendants to one year of rigorous imprisonment each after they pleaded guilty to the killing of a person in 2019, while suspending their sentences for ten years.

Given that the defendants had been between 15 and 16 years old at the time of the killing in Pannipitiya, their defense attorneys had requested lenient sentences. The accused had pleaded guilty.

Judge Adithya Patabandige, pronouncing the sentences, also ordered the defendants to pay Rs. 500,000 in compensation to the family of the victim.
