COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) reports a noticeable increase in incidents involving the sharing of explicit content online to intimidate and threaten individuals.
Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola stated that over 1,100 such cases have been reported so far this year.
He says that the majority of complaints concern one party in a romantic relationship threatening the other party using various methods.
The Senior Information Security Engineer says that victims should gather as much evidence as possible, including the URL of any website that the relevant explicit content may be uploaded onto, telephone call records, text messages as well as relevant screenshots.
He adds that by lodging a complaint at the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT), the content uploaded onto various websites can be taken down as well.
