IMF Discussions to Continue Today, Says Ministry of Finance

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Finance says that discussions with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are scheduled to continue today.

According to the ministry, officials from the Central Bank and the Finance Ministry will also participate in these discussions.

Minister of Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that the progress of the discussions held between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the delegation of the International Monetary Fund, will be presented at the Cabinet meeting today (19). 

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a meeting yesterday (18) with this delegation from the International Monetary Fund at the President's office, to discuss Sri Lanka's economic recovery.

During the meeting, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stressed the need for a balanced approach that addresses citizen hardships and restores public trust.

He highlighted the need to address critical issues such as child poverty, malnutrition, and support for the differently-abled.

The IMF delegation began discussions with officials of the Ministry of Finance on 17th November with regard to the third review of the IMF program in Sri Lanka.

The delegation from the International Monetary Fund arrived in Sri Lanka on 17th November.
