581 Arrested for Violating Election Laws

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police have called on the public to act peacefully throughout the post-election period. 

Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police Attorney Nihal Thalduwa announced that a special security program is still in effect in selected police jurisdictions. 

581 suspects have been arrested for violating election laws, including 18 candidates in the past two days.

Additionally, 147 vehicles have been impounded by police.
