COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have reported a noticeable trend of illegal election campaigning activities.
According to the police, special operations to remove illegal posters, cutouts, and banners is underway 24/7.
As of now, a total of 117 such operations have been carried out.
Police said that seven candidates were arrested in connection with these violations, along with 271 others.
Additionally, 67 vehicles used for illegal campaigning have been seized by the police.
A total of 256 complaints related to the election have been received.
Sri Lanka Police confirmed that 42 complaints out of the 256, are complaints of violence.
