Heavy Rainfall Alert: Island-Wide Showers and Thundershowers Expected

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Met Department said that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres meet, is currently affecting the island's weather patterns.

As a result, showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island during the afternoon or night, with some areas likely to experience heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm.

Additionally, morning showers or thundershowers are anticipated in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Mannar, and Mullaittivu districts.
