Income tax dues to be collected starting from tomorrow

COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision has been reached to enter the premises of individuals who haven't settled their self-assessment income tax payments, and charge the said taxes from them starting from tomorrow. 

The Commissioner General of Inland Revenue Sepalika Chandrasekera said that 1417 billion rupees had been collected in taxes as at the 30th of September. 

She said that the tax revenue target for this year is 2024 billion rupees. 

She added that 600 billion rupees in tax revenue that is due will be collected. 

The Inland Revenue Department said that this program will be collected with the assistance of officers attached to regional IRD offices and the head office.
