Import Levy on Apples and Big Onions Increased

COLOMBO (News 1st): The government has announced an increase in the special import levy on apples and big onions.
The import levy on apples has risen by Rs. 10, raising the total to Rs. 60 per unit.
The duty on big onions has increased by Rs. 20, bringing it to Rs. 30.
The Ministry of Finance said that this decision aims to strengthen local farmers and support the domestic agriculture sector.
