Sri Lanka Nets 1,184 Suspects in 24-Hour Anti-Drug Crackdown

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities apprehended a staggering 1,184 suspects for drug offenses during the 24-hour period ending today (05th January) at 12.30 am. 

59 suspects will face additional scrutiny based on Detention Orders.

Authorities have initiated investigations into the illegal assets of 23 suspects.

Sri Lanka Police said that 49 drug addicts were identified and directed toward rehabilitation centers.

The operation also apprehended 93 individuals listed as registered suspects with the Police Narcotics Bureau and Special Bureau.
