COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect who fled after causing injuries to a Police Constable on duty along Vajira Road in Bambalapitiya has been remanded.
Sri Lanka Police said the officer who was on duty stopped the vehicle when the suspect was driving from Thummulla towards Kirulapone.
The driver had driven off when the Police officer put his hand in to the vehicle to ask for the driver's license.
Later, the driver had knocked the car on another vehicle, causing the Police officer to fall.
The car involved in the incident is part of a rental service, and the driver of the car has surrendered to Police through an attorney.
Sri Lanka Police said the suspect was remanded on charges of attempted murder, obstructing a Police officer from carrying out duties, kidnapping, causing injuries and damaging the Police uniform.
