IRD Issues Final Tax Payment Notice for 2023/2024

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has issued an urgent notice to all taxpayers, reminding them to make their final income tax payments for the Year of Assessment 2023/2024 by September 30, 2024.

The IRD has emphasized that failure to meet this deadline will result in penalties and interest charges, which will not be waived or reduced.

Additionally, the IRD has reminded taxpayers to clear all outstanding default taxes by October 30, 2024. Any unpaid default taxes after this date will be subject to rigorous collection actions, including legal proceedings as per the Inland Revenue Act.

Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, W.A. Sepalika Chandrasekara, reiterated the importance of adhering to these deadlines to avoid any legal complications.
