Gazette on MP Numbers For Each District

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Election Commission has released a gazette notification detailing the number of Members of Parliament (MPs) to be elected from each district in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake stated that the 2024 voter registry will be used for this purpose.

Commissioner General Ratnayake emphasized that each district must submit a nomination list based on the 2024 voter registry, with a deposit of 2000 rupees required for each nomination.

Colombo district can submit up to 18 nominations. Recognized political parties are exempt from this requirement.
