Modi Congratulates AKD on X, High Commissioner Meets Dissanayake in Person

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Indian Prime Minister, currently in the United States, extended his congratulations to Anura Kumara Dissanayake on X, following his victory in the Sri Lankan Presidential elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that Sri Lanka holds a special place in India’s Neighbourhood First Policy and Vision SAGAR. 

He expressed his eagerness to work closely with President-elect Dissanayake to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations for the benefit of their people and the entire region.

Additionally, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha personally met with President-elect Dissanayake to convey greetings from India’s leadership and to congratulate him on securing the people’s mandate. 

High Commissioner Jha reiterated India’s commitment, as Sri Lanka’s civilizational twin, to deepening bilateral ties for the prosperity of both countries.
