Nationwide Curfew Imposed As Precautionary Measure

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Sri Lankan authorities have enforced a nationwide curfew starting at 10:00 PM today, September 21, 2024, which will remain in effect until 6:00 AM on September 22.

The curfew, implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, comes despite the maintenance of a peaceful environment across the country. Citizens are strongly encouraged to remain indoors during the curfew hours, with law enforcement tasked to strictly monitor compliance.

Individuals involved in election-related activities are permitted to travel during the curfew upon presenting identification or official passes issued by an authorized officer.

Additionally, those traveling to or from the airport can use their flight tickets as curfew passes to facilitate movement. Essential service providers are also permitted to travel, provided they present their official work IDs or authorized documents.
