COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Election Commission says that all necessary procedures relating to the presidential election are in place to conduct a free, fair, and transparent presidential election.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, orders were given for constitutional circulars and instructions related to the election, and the public has been duly informed.
However, it highlights that several individuals and organizations are making statements regarding aspects of the electoral process, such as the marking of ballots, counting of votes, enforcement of electoral laws, campaign activities, and other administrative matters that have been observed by the election commission.
Chairman Rathnayake therefore pointed out that such statements are not considered official announcements from the Election Commission, and consequently they have no official validity.
He further emphasized that such statements should not be considered as authoritative or endorsed by the National Election Commission.
