SAARC and Russian Observers To Visit Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has announced that election observers from nine countries will arrive in Sri Lanka to monitor the upcoming presidential election. 

R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, Chairman of the Election Commission, stated that these observers are coming to Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Commission. 

The international observers will begin their monitoring activities on the 18th of this month.

The monitoring group will include representatives from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries and Russian observers. 

Their role will be to oversee the election proceedings and ensure adherence to international standards. 

After the election, they are expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Election Commission.

In addition to these observers, representatives from the European Union and the Commonwealth have already arrived in Sri Lanka and commenced their monitoring activities.
