COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers decided to lift all vehicle import ban/restrictions by February 2025.
Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, PC in a post on X said that with the significant improvement in forex reserves and the strength of the rupee, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to lift all vehicle import ban/restrictions by February 2025.
He said that this decision is part of our ongoing efforts to restore normalcy in the economy and meet the needs of the people.
The Cabinet has approved the removal of the temporary suspension on motor vehicle & non-motorized goods imports. The phased removal, starting Oct 1, 2024, follows recommendations from the Ministry of Finance & aligns with the nation's recovery measures under the IMF's Extended Fund Facility program
