COLOMBO (News 1st); Namal Rajapaksa, the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has announced a bold plan to create 2 million jobs over the next ten yearspeaking at a public rally in Hiriyala yesterday afternoon, Rajapaksa emphasized the importance of job creation for the youth of Sri Lanka.
"We have a goal. I believe that within the next ten years, we should create at least 2 million jobs for the youth of this country. It can be local and foreign," Rajapaksa stated. He outlined his strategy to attract both local and foreign businessmen to establish factories in every constituency that currently lacks one.
Rajapaksa also addressed the issue of taxation, promising to simplify and reduce taxes to an affordable level.
"We are not ready to take votes on false promises. We are clearly simplifying taxes in this country. Taxes will be reduced to an affordable extent," he said.
He assured that government revenue would be increased without selling public resources and emphasized the creation of a government that puts money into the hands of the people.
