COLOMBO (News 1st); Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Leader of the National People's Power (NPP), has voiced strong criticism of the current political landscape, highlighting the fragmentation within traditional political camps as the presidential election approaches.

"There are supposedly three political camps. However, there is only one. However, three nomination papers were submitted. Yet, they are from one political camp," Dissanayake stated.

He pointed out the fluidity and shifting alliances within these camps, noting that when Ranil Wickremesinghe becomes the Party Leader, Sajith Premadasa becomes the deputy leader. Similarly, when Mahinda Rajapaksa leads the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Professor G.L. Peiris, who is now with Sajith, becomes the SLPP Chairman.

Dissanayake also highlighted the political shifts of key figures such as Bandula Gunawardena, who once supported Mahinda but is now with Ranil, and Dr. Harsha De Silva, who has moved from supporting Ranil to backing Sajith.

"Don't you see the mix in this?" he questioned, emphasizing the disarray and lack of clear direction within these political groups.

He accused these camps of engaging in double standard politics, stating, "A political camp that always stood as one has now divided itself into three and is contesting the presidential election. Their campaigns are also different from each other."

In contrast, Dissanayake asserted that the National People's Power is the only political force delivering a consistent message across the North, South, and East of the country.
