Only 750 Passports Issued Daily In Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Immigration & Emigration Department announced a temporary measure to address the ongoing passport shortage.

Until a permanent solution is found, the department will issue only 750 passports per day, strictly in the order of arrival.

Controller General Harsha Ilukpitiya stated that by yesterday afternoon, all individuals who were waiting at the department had been evacuated. 

This decision comes in response to the limited supply of blank passports currently available to the department.
