COLOMBO (News 1st) – Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake of the National People's Power has raised concerns over recent ministerial appointments with just 30 days remaining until the Presidential Election.
Dissanayake questioned the timing and purpose of these appointments, highlighting that the newly appointed ministers, Vadivel Suresh and Ali Sahir Maulana, are provided with government vehicles and fuel, potentially allowing them to engage in election campaigns using state resources.
Dissanayake pointed out that Maulana was appointed to parliament following the removal of Nazir Ahamed.
He criticized President Ranil Wickremesinghe for appointing these ministers while citing the election period as a reason for not appointing a new Police Chief.
Dissanayake accused Wickremesinghe's campaign of leveraging state funds, resources, fuel, and security for electoral advantage.
