Election Commission to Deploy Special Teams

COLOMBO (News1st); The National Election Commission has announced its decision to dispatch special teams to scrutinize government institutions accused of flouting election laws. 

The move comes as the commission has been inundated with complaints alleging unlawful practices by certain government departments and agencies.

The commission has warned that if the directives to halt these violations are disregarded, these special teams will be mobilized to conduct thorough investigations and restore compliance with the law.

In a related development, the secretaries of two ministries, found to be in contravention of election laws, were summoned before the Election Commission for questioning. 

Furthermore, the Election Commission has reiterated the necessity for all public officials to adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the circular pertaining to the conduct of public officials during the presidential election. 

Officials who fail to comply with these regulations will face stringent consequences, as the commission seeks to ensure a fair and lawful election process.
