SLPP To Announce Presidential Candidate Today (7)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The political landscape heats up in Sri Lanka as the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) gears up to announce its presidential candidate today. 

The much-anticipated nomination will take place at the party's head office on Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla.

The ceremony, will be graced by the presence of the party leader and former President, Mahinda Rajapaksa. 

This event marks a significant moment for the SLPP as it prepares to enter the presidential race with its chosen representative.

As the nomination day unfolds, the election fervor is palpable across the nation.

As of yesterday afternoon, a total of 18 candidates have made their intentions clear by depositing bonds for the presidential election.

The SLPP's announcement is highly anticipated by supporters and political analysts alike, as it could potentially sway the dynamics of the upcoming elections. 

In recent weeks, the SLPP made it clear that it would field its own candidate, and would not back incumbent president Ranil Wickremesinghe.

However, some of the SLPP ranks have deviated from this stance and backed the President in his run for office.
