COLOMBO (News 1st); In response to the upcoming elections, the Sri Lanka Police has taken significant steps to ensure the smooth functioning of district election offices and address election-related incidents.
A total of 11 police officers each have been assigned to each of the 22 district election offices across the country.
Relevant officials have been deployed specifically to investigate election complaints and ensure efficient coordination of activities within the offices.
A specialized police team has been assembled to handle tasks related to the National Election Operations Office.
This team comprises 10 officers, including a Deputy Inspector General of Police and a Senior Superintendent of Police.
As of now, the police have received three complaints related to the election, from Chilaw, Arachchikattuwa, and Kuliyapitiya.
The three incidents related to making threats by phone, altercation over a poster, and the illegal pasting of posters.
