COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has issued a statement refuting recent reports that registered voters can cast their ballots at any polling station across the island.
The notice, signed by Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake, emphasizes that voters must visit the specific polling station indicated in their official polling notice.
The 2024 voter list reveals a total of 17,140,354 registered voters.
The highest number of voters are registered in the Gampaha district, with 1,881,129 voters.
In the Colombo district, 1,765,351 voters are registered.
Kurunegala district has 1,417,226 registered voters.
Kandy accounts for 1,191,399 registered voters, while Kalutara district has 1,024,244 registered voters.
The districts of Vavuniya, Mannar, and Mullaitivu now function as the Vanni District, with a total of 306,081 registered voters.
