Mortal Remains of Most Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero Placed at Gangaramaya Temple For the General Public To Pay Final Respects

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The mortal remains of the Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, The Chief Sanghanayake of the Colombo New Korala and Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple currently lies at the Gangaramaya Temple.

The general public will be allowed to pay their final respects for until the 5th AUgust.

The cremation of the mortal remains Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero will be performed on the 5th August, at the ground adjacent to the temple.

The late thero was suffering from illness for some time and passed away yesterday at the age of 80, while receiving treatment at a private hospital. 

Born on the 14th of December 1943 in the village of Galaboda, Matara, Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero was ordained at the age of eight and became known among everyone as the "Podi Hamuduruwo" of Gangarama.
