Department of Post Prepares for Secure Delivery of Postal Votes

Colombo (News 1st): Department of Post says that steps have been taken to organize the secured delivery of sealed packets containing the marked postal ballots to the respective Returning Officers.

Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe said that all officials are already informed about this process.

He further said that approximately 700,000 postal votes are expected, based on the applications received. This number will be confirmed only after the Elections Commission, along with the Returning Officers, approve the applications and deems the applicants eligible for postal voting.

He added that subsequently, the official voting papers will also be distributed to households in the future.
