COLOMBO (News1st); The Colombo District Court fixed for order on Wednesday (24) the matter concerning whether or not the judgement regarding the petition filed by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara will be withheld until an order is issued regarding the intervenient petition filed by Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna.

MP Dayasiri Jayasekara had filed the petition against the decision reached by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to take disciplinary action against him, while he served as the SLFP General Secretary.

The order on the interim application was scheduled to be delivered today.

When the petition was taken up in court today Attorney Shantha Jayawardena, who appeared for the Treasurer of the SLFP Shantha Jayawardena, made submissions before Court and said it was a shortcoming that SLFP Chairman Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake were not named as respondents in this petition.

The Attorney further said that since they are not named as respondents, the SLFP will not be fully represented in this case.

Therefore, he requested that his client be named as a respondent in the petition and be allowed to present his facts.

Attorney Dasun Nagassena who appeared for the respondents, Chairman of the SLFP Maithripala Sirisena and former General Secretary Sarath Ekanayake, said over a year has passed since the petition was filed and it is concerning that Lasantha Alagiyawanna, who did not show any particular interest in this case at the time, is requesting permission to intervene now.

Therefore, he requested for the decision on the petition to be announced, disregarding the intervening petitioner Lasantha Alagiyawanna's request.

After considering facts presented by both sides, court set tomorrow as the date to announce whether or not the court hearing will be suspended, based on intervenient petitioner Lasantha Alagiyawanna's request.
