New Director appointed to National Eye Hospital; Doctors' strike temporarily called off

Colombo (News 1st): The strike launched by doctors of the National Eye Hospital has been called off.

Secretary of Government Medical Officers Association, Prabhath Sugathadasa said that the strike action ended following the appointment of a new hospital director.

Earlier today, doctors at the National Eye Hospital launched a strike by withdrawing from patient care.

The strike was launched against the alleged inappropriate behavior of the former Acting Hospital Director of the National Eye Hospital.

Hospital operations were disrupted due to the strike.
