SLCERT Warns Of Social Media Scams

COLOMBO (News 1st); There has been an increase in complaints regarding the theft of users' personal data through social media scams claiming to provide cellular data.

Senior Information Security Engineer of The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team, Charuka Damunupola urged people to avoid opening or sharing such messages.

He said that there is a message serculating on WhatsApp claiming to give free data through which sensitive information includion peoples bio data can be hacked.

He also mentioned that there have been reports of financial theft through this scam.
