Trade union action lauched and continued by multiple unions

COLOMBO (News 1st); The trade union action launched by train drivers continues today as well.

Secretary of the Locomotive Operating Engineers' Association S.R.C.M. Senanayake says that trains will not operate from two stations located in Colombo.

He adds the strike was launched based on several issues including the failure to provide a salary code, promotions, and recruitments.

Meanwhile the Engineers' Association of teh Road Development Authority has also launched trade union action, citing several issues.

Its Vice President Nilatha Wijesena says that accordingly, members of the union will refrain from development activities of rural road and bridges.

In addition, the trade union action of University non-academic staff continues for the 37th day today.
