COLOMBO (News1st); Statements have been recorded from a Member of Parliament regarding the alleged assault on MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha by Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
Sri Lanka Police said statements were recorded from a MP, who was there at the time of the incident, at the Parliament complex on Thursday (06).
Investigations were launched based on a complaint lodged by the son of MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha, Nilupul Rajapaksha.
This incident was reported on Monday (03) afternoon at the President's Office premises.
The complaint stated that MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha's leg was broken due to an assault by former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
Gunathilaka Rajapaksha is currently receiving treatment at the Army Hospital.
