Western Province schools to reopen today (05)

COLOMBO (News1st); A decision has been reached to close schools in several districts on Wednesday (05) as well, due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

The Southern Provincial Ministry of Education said all schools in the Galle and Matara districts will be closed on Wednesday (05), due to floods.

All schools in the Ratnapura Education Zone will also be closed on Wednesday (05).

The Provincial Education Director said schools in the Elapatha, Ayagama and Kalawana divisions of the Nivithigala education zone will be closed on Wednesday (05).

Governor of the Western Province Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke said all schools in the Western Province, except those still affected by floods, and those that continue to operate as shelters, will re-open on Wednesday (05).

He said instructions were given to first clean school premises, before opening for academic activities.
