Malta Job Scam: Woman Nabbed by SLBFE Special Unit

COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman who deceived individuals by promising job opportunities in Malta has been apprehended.

The arrest was carried out by the Special Investigation Unit of the Foreign Employment Bureau.

The suspect's husband is employed in the State of Malta, and likely facilitated her fraudulent activities.

According to detectives, she managed to extract a sum of 884,000 rupees from an unsuspecting victim, falsely claiming that she could secure employment in Malta.

The arrest was prompted by a complaint from a person who, despite paying money, did not receive the promised job.

Today, the suspect appeared before the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court, where she was granted release on two personal bails, each amounting to five hundred thousand rupees.

Additionally, a restraining order has been issued, preventing her from traveling abroad.
